About the Community Unitarian Universalist Church
Founded in May, 1996, we began with a group of 39 people - 29 from the Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Daytona Beach in Ormond Beach and 10 not previously affiliated with a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Volusia County. Now we have grown to over 80 members. This congregation meets in temporary quarters while it seeks a permanent home.
Members of this congregation share the goals of the Church as stated in our proposal to the Unitarian Universalist Association: Our vision is to create a self-sustaining Unitarian Universalist congregation, located in south Volusia County; nurture our souls with regular worship services; continue to develop a life span religious education program; demonstrate our commitment to social justice; increase our membership to 250 adults; foster a climate of generous financial giving; maintain adequate temporary worship, religious education, and meeting space, while at the same time planning for a future permanent home; bring into being a shared ministry providing opportunities for all who wish to serve the church, our larger community, our nation and the world.
We welcome those who gladly assume the privileges and responsibilities of membership. We expect that prospective members will become acquainted with Unitarian Universalism, have attended church long enough to feel at home with us, be prepared to make a reasonable financial commitment to the support of our work, and be as active as possible in the life of the Church. If you would like to become a member please sign the "Intention To Join" book at the Membership Table. We welcome new members on the first Sunday of even numbered months.
Affiliation is with the Unitarian Universalist Association, formed in 1961 by merger of the America Unitarian Association (founded in 1825) and the Universalist Church of American (founded in 1778). We are associated with more than 40 congregations located from the Virgin Islands to Panama City, in the Florida District of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

"100 Questions that Non-Members Ask about UUism" from the UU Church of Nashua, NH, is very popoular, though you might include a disclaimer that this book emphasizes humanist/agnostic/atheist ideas somewhat to the exclusion of others.
